Cat Owner’s Home Veterinary Book

Third Edition: By Debra M. Eldredge, DVM , Delbert G. Carlson, DVM, Liisa D. Carlson, DVM, James M. Griffin, MD

This newly revised, comprehensive, user-friendly guide to cat health and care should be on every cat lover’s bookshelf. Whether you share your home with one cat or ten, The Cat Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook contains everything you need to help your cat or kitten stay healthy. To the credit of the people behind this revision, this edition corrects several errors found in the previous edition and brings this guide up-to-date and current.

This book arrived a week ago and I’ve already turned to it several times; to determine how come a recent rescued kitten’s stool was grayish in color, to find out what I needed to do when one of my cats was discovered eating plastic bag, and how to stop diarrhea in an older cat who otherwise seemed perfectly fine.

When opening the book , you will notice Signs and Symptoms of Illness printed onto the back of the front cover. This book has been around for decades but this newly revised edition blows all other editions  off the map. When your veterinarian hurriedly explains to you that your Siamese has Feline Hyperesthesia and then leaves to go to his next appointment, this book is waiting on your shelf at home to guide you through this puzzling disorder.  Does The Cat Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook replace a veterinarian? No, nothing can when it comes to getting a hand’s on exam and explanation from an expert about your beloved cat. But, it does clear up the gray areas left when you come back from a vet visit with more questions then answers.
