Urban Tails

If you are able to read this book without shedding a single tear, than I fear for your humanity.

Urban tails take you a beautifully photographed heart-wrenching journey into the lives of strays and feral cats struggling to survive in the cities.

These cats, the ones that people tend to overlook have a bleak existence. Danger lurks behind every corner, under every building. Food is scarce and compassion for them virtually nonexistent.

The photographs take you through their lives, no captions are needed for each photo speaks a thousand words. You see kittens deserving to be: born into a loving home,  playing with littermates, being fed meals a day, finding instead a stray leaf to bat around, a puddle of dirty water to lap up and bedding down under the tire of a truck.

How do we resolve this feral cat and stray cat issue oh gentle reader? The cure is simple. It entails being a responsible caretaker for any cat or kitten in our care. Spaying and neutering. Not feeding wild cats unless there is ample money too TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) the cats.

Until we take the initiative, ALL of us to be sure that our pet cats as well as the feral and stray cats are fixed and unable to reproduce, then I fear urban tails will soon be followed up with more compelling sequels. As someone who has chosen to spend her live socializing older feral cats and working with orphaned kittens, I applaud urban tails. The book stands up for those without a voice, for those denied what we take for granted; a loving home.
